Mira Mesa Senior Center parking lot repairs
Seniors delivered a 900-signature petition asking the city to fix the crumbling, non-ADA-compliant parking lot at the Mira Mesa Senior Center before someone gets hurt. Speakers pointed to an $11 million facilities fund and a $1 million community fund that could pay for it.
Draft Bicycle Master Plan comment period
The city's updated Bicycle Master Plan is open for public comment through the online portal, and one commenter asked whether impaired riding is addressed in the collision analysis and safety recommendations.
El Camino Real bridge replacement
The council approved seeking up to $42 million in state bridge grant funding and a $940,000 agreement with the Santa Fe Irrigation District for water facility relocation.
Pavement Management Plan Annual Update
An annual look at the condition of San Diego's streets and the funding gap — General Fund, TransNet and state gas tax dollars — needed to keep them repaired. Informational only; no new spending authorized.
B Street Pedestrian Corridor Project (Item 101)
A compensation agreement with Civic San Diego moves the long-planned downtown pedestrian corridor toward construction, improving access and safety around the Santa Fe Depot.
Parking Meter Revenue for Neighborhood Street Repairs
The council extended its experiment of pouring parking meter money into extra streetlight, pothole and crosswalk repairs in metered districts — 2,000+ streetlight fixes and 30,000 pothole repairs so far.
Multimodal Transportation Safety Team
Advocates urged restoring the team that designs crosswalks, bike lanes and street safety fixes, funded through road maintenance dollars rather than the general fund.
TransNet street and transportation funding for 2027
Roughly $49 million in half-cent sales tax money goes to street resurfacing, sidewalks, traffic signals and bike paths in FY2027, with 70 percent required for congestion relief. Councilmembers highlighted the 43 percent paving commitment to Districts 4, 8 and 9.
FY2027 road repair funding
The council approved $39.5 million in state gas-tax money for street surface sealing citywide, plus $2.4 million for the Speed Management Plan and $1 million for pavement condition assessment.
Citywide speed limit reductions
The council lowered speed limits on about 680 miles of streets — a fifth of the network — including 15 mph zones near schools. It's part of Vision Zero, but the $2.4 million sign-installation cost still needs FY27 budget approval.
Fenton Parkway Bridge land dedication
The city dedicated about 2 acres of Mission Valley land to build the long-planned Fenton Parkway Bridge connecting communities near SDSU, with the bridge's $53 million cost mostly covered by SDSU and developer impact fees.
Sunday paid parking in neighborhood meter zones
The council was set to extend meter hours to Sundays in downtown, uptown and mid-city with a $141.50 resident permit program. After objections over affordability, the motion was withdrawn — Sundays stay free, but the city forgoes about $1.4 million budgeted this year and $2.8 million a year after.
San Ysidro infrastructure grant
$320,000 in state grant money will fix sidewalks, add curb ramps, and resurface streets in San Ysidro.
